Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Computational Biologist I to support large-scale genomic and multi-omic data analysis. You will collaborate with the PI and a multidisciplinary team to develop and maintain computational workflows, software tools, databases, and research computing resources, and to translate complex results into biological insights.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s or Bachelor’s in CS or a related field and at least 2 years in bioinformatics/computational biology,

Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in CS or related biological field.
  • At least 2 years of related research experience in bioinformatics and computational biology.

Responsibilities

  • Manage lab computer hardware and software programming and maintenance; ensure systems meet lab needs.
  • Perform complex data analysis for specialized research methodologies and results as directed by the PI.
  • Develop and/or modify software to support ongoing research projects.
  • Resolve hardware, software, and network issues in the lab.
  • Develop and maintain complex databases to support research projects.
  • Train lab staff in the use of research systems.
  • May specialize in bioinformatics, software development, network administration, or hardware/software maintenance.
