Job summary

Crafty Apes in Los Angeles is seeking Mid to Senior Compositors to join our VFX team. You will integrate live-action plates, handle tracking, paint, and multi-pass CG composites, and deliver photo-real shots under tight deadlines.

Candidates should have 3+ years (mid) or 5+ years (senior) in episodic or feature VFX, strong tracking and keying skills with Nuke, Photoshop, Boujou/Syntheyes/Mocha, and good communication. Remote-US work permitted.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in compositor role for episodic or feature VFX (Mid).
• 5+ years in compositor role for episodic or feature VFX (Senior).
• Strong tracking and blue/green screen keying skills.
• Proficient in Nuke, Photoshop, Boujou/Syntheyes/Mocha, Primatte/Keylight/Ultimatte.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Seamlessly integrate layers/elements of live-action shots.
• Tackle shots from start to finish: roto, tracking, paint, animation, elements creation.
• Extract mattes from blue/green screen photography.
• Maintain color accuracy, lighting, and color-space in composites.
• Composite multi-pass CG elements to achieve photo-real shots.
• Maintain clean, organized scripts and pipelines.
• Communicate progress to Coordinators, Producers, Leads, and Supervisors.

What you would do

• Seamlessly integrate the various layers or elements of a live-action shot.
• Tackle shots from start to finish, including roto, tracking, paint, animation and creation of elements, etc.
• Extract mattes from blue/green screen photography.
• Pay strong attention to detail, sense of color, color-space and lighting.
• Composite multi-pass CG elements to create photo real shots.
• Maintain clean and efficient script organisation.
• Communicate progress of work to Coordinators, Producers, Leads and Supervisors in a timely fashion.

What you need

• Minimum 3 years ( Mid ) and 5 years ( Senior ) of experience as a compositor in episodic or feature VFX.
• Must excel in tracking and blue/green screens comps.
• Proficient in Nuke, Photoshop, Boujou/Syntheyes/Mocha, Primatte/Keylight/Ultimatte.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise, take criticism, and work under high pressure with short deadlines.
• Experience working with Shotgrid software preferred.
