Job summary

SEGULA Technologies in Herndon, VA seeks a Compliance Solutions Specialist to ensure U.S. import/export compliance while leveraging data analytics and automation to enhance trade processes in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

The role involves interpreting regulations, leading classification work, and partnering with brokers and 3PLs to maintain compliant operations. A background in Power BI, SQL, and SAP GTS is preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in U.S. import compliance or related field.
• Strong knowledge of 19 CFR, HTSUS, ECCN, EAR, ITAR, origin rules, FTAs.
• Experience using Power BI for reporting and dashboards.
• Ability to interpret aircraft engineering drawings for trade classification.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with U.S. customs regulations and trade controls (19 CFR, HTSUS, ECCN, EAR, ITAR).
• Classify tariffs and ECCN for aviation aftermarket parts.
• Liaise with customs brokers and 3PLs for timely clearance.
• Analyze supply chain data using SQL/Power BI to identify compliance risks and cost savings.
• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards for compliance KPIs and entry accuracy.
• Develop workflow automations to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency.
• Conduct internal compliance audits to prevent regulatory penalties.
• Collaborate with logistics, engineering and cross-functional teams to maintain data integrity.

Job description

• Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), HTSUS, ECCN, EAR, ITAR, country of origin requirements, and free trade agreements.
• Perform accurate tariff (HTS) and ECCN classifications for aviation aftermarket parts.
• Act as the primary liaison with customs brokers and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely customs clearance.
• Utilize SQL, Skywise (Palantir), and Power BI to analyze supply chain data and identify compliance risks, cost-saving opportunities, and duty drawbacks.
• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards to monitor compliance KPIs, customs entry accuracy, and operational performance.
• Develop workflow automations using VBA and other scripting tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
• Conduct internal compliance audits to identify discrepancies and prevent regulatory penalties.
• Collaborate with logistics, engineering, and cross-functional teams to maintain data integrity across systems.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and strategic trade compliance projects.
• Maintain a strong commitment to ethical business practices and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience in U.S. import compliance, import operations, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of:
• U.S. Customs Regulations (19 CFR)
• HTSUS classification
• ECCN
• EAR
• ITAR
• Country of Origin regulations
• Free Trade Agreements
• Experience using Microsoft Power BI for reporting, dashboards, and data visualization.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify data anomalies and compliance risks.
• Ability to interpret aircraft engineering drawings and maintenance documentation for trade classification purposes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s Degree in International Trade, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 2+ years of tariff classification experience.
• Experience with Skywise (Palantir), SAP GTS, or similar global trade software.
• Knowledge of C-TPAT, ISA, or other voluntary trade compliance programs.
• Professional certifications such as:
• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
• Master Customs Specialist (MCS)
• U.S. Customs Broker License

Additional Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
• Ability to work on-site in Herndon, VA.
