Business Director - Global Legal, Risk and Compliance

Compliance Manager

Sector: Life Reinsurance | Experience: 3–7 years

A fast-moving life reinsurance startup is looking for an ambitious, solutions-oriented Compliance Manager to support its global operations. With fewer than 30 employees today and a target to nearly double headcount in the next 18 months, this is a rare opportunity to join a business at a critical early growth stage where your input can truly make a difference.

What You’ll Do

• Partner directly with the Head of Compliance to build out a pragmatic and forward-looking compliance and operational risk framework.
• Ensure the company meets regulatory requirements across both US jurisdictions and the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), including filings, governance, and controls testing.
• Support and lead compliance initiatives, including monitoring programs, policy development, regulatory horizon scanning, and training.
• Take a hands-on role in embedding risk awareness across a lean, fast-paced organization—from vendor due diligence to internal incident reporting.
• Liaise with senior stakeholders across actuarial, finance, and operations, offering real-time compliance and risk insight in a collaborative, solutions-focused way.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–7 years of experience in compliance, risk, or internal audit—ideally in (re)insurance or another highly regulated financial services sector.
• Working knowledge of US or Bermuda regulations; experience with BMA filings and reporting is advantageous but not essential.
• A proactive, adaptable mindset—you’ll be working in a startup environment where curiosity, ownership, and flexibility are key.
• Strong communicator with the confidence to operate independently and the judgment to know when to escalate.
• A team player who’s excited to grow with a company and contribute beyond a traditional compliance silo.
