Job summary

Heron Power is seeking a Compliance Engineering Technician to lead lab operations, build test fixtures, and maintain quality and safety standards. You will operate and troubleshoot test equipment, enforce ISO 17025 controls, and mentor junior technicians in a fast‑paced lab environment.

You will oversee lab infrastructure, 5S implementation, and root cause analysis, coordinating with contractors and suppliers while ensuring precise, repeatable test results for power electronics validation.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in electrical technology or equivalent hands‑on training.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands‑on work experience in a test lab or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to fabricate test fixtures (wiring, terminations, soldering, panel builds) and plumbing.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in fixture fabrication and lab builds.
  • Hands‑on experience operating test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal chambers, data loggers).
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 or equivalent quality management systems; experience implementing or maintaining QMS controls.
  • Commitment to lab safety, enforcing standards and corrective actions as needed.
  • Experience implementing 5S in lab or manufacturing settings.
  • Strong root cause analysis and debugging skills for test failures and process issues.
  • Experience procuring, tracking, and managing lab consumables and equipment inventory.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; capable of supervising technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and maintain test fixtures and wiring for power hardware tests.
  • Own lab layout and coordinate space, build‑out, utilities, and vendor interactions.
  • Procure and manage lab consumables and spare parts to ensure uninterrupted tests.
  • Maintain organized inventory of test equipment and resources.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, thermal chambers).
  • Configure equipment per test plans and ensure measurement integrity during campaigns.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate calibration schedules.
  • Establish and enforce ISO 17025 quality controls across lab activities.
  • Lead day‑to‑day technician activities and provide hands‑on guidance.
  • Mentor technicians on procedures, safety, and quality standards.
