Walters Group is seeking a Compliance Clerk in New Jersey to support the Tax Credit Compliance Administrator with LIHTC/HUD housing programs. You will review eligibility, verify income/assets, and maintain compliant resident files across recertifications and move-ins.

The role involves occasional travel to properties statewide, a full-time schedule, and close collaboration with property managers and leasing staff to meet deadlines while protecting resident confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Experience with LIHTC and/or HUD affordable housing programs preferred.
• Basic understanding of income calculations, asset verification, and compliance processes; willingness to learn and grow into more advanced responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and file management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Familiarity with NJ Housing Agency compliance requirements is a plus.
• Proficiency with computers, scanners, and property management/compliance software.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow regulatory guidelines.

Responsabilités

• Assist with collecting required documentation from applicants and residents.
• Support the review and verification of household income, assets, and household composition.
• Prepare and submit third-party income and asset verification requests.
• Organize, track, and maintain compliance files to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with calculating household income under guidance from the Compliance Administrator.
• Help ensure compliance with HUD, LIHTC, and New Jersey regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with property managers, leasing staff, and residents regarding missing documents, deadlines, and required follow-up.
• Provide administrative support during initial move-ins, interim changes, and annual recertifications.
• Maintain secure and confidential handling of all resident information.
