Job summary

Providence College seeks candidates for a 10-month Resident Assistant supervisor role. You will supervise and evaluate RA staff, hire and train, and ensure compliance with the Student Handbook and policies.

You will manage reports, incident documentation, and provide guidance to students to promote a supportive campus living environment. You will collaborate with Residence Life and Housing, coordinate programming, and participate in on-call rotations while upholding Catholic and college values

Overview

Serves as a accessible resource whose core, curriculum-based responsibilities are underscored by reinforcing ethics, responsible conduct, and moral accountability. Work collaboratively with various departments on campus to create opportunities for, and to engage students in, dialogue, personal development, academic achievement, and identity formation. This is a 10 month position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in the fall, winter, and spring training sessions for the RA's; supervise, hire, train, and evaluate performance of assigned RA's and provide feedback and encouragement to RAs for personal and paraprofessional growth. Manage and process RA administrative reports such as weekly reports, duty logs, duty schedules, and incident reports. Meet regularly with the RA's both individually and in weekly staff meetings. Supervise and evaluate performance of at least one Graduate Hall Director; provide feedback and encouragement to Graduate Hall Director's personal and professional growth; and meet regularly with Graduate Hall Director to review current concerns and questions. (25%)Maintain up-to-date knowledge and clear understanding of the regulations outlined in the Student Handbook, as well as related legal regulations. Enforce all applicable regulations as needed, communicate behavioral expectations to students through periodic floor and building meetings with complex residents, and conduct judicial conferences of referred cases for students documented for policy violations. Complete and submit infraction reports to the appropriate central staff member. Develop strategies to reduce inappropriate behavior in the complex. Serve as a member of the on-call rotation team for the campus responding to incidents as they arise, following College and Residence Life and Housing protocol, and submitting required documentation. Conduct Brief Motivational Interview alcohol interventions as assigned. Serve as an on-duty member of the Administrator on-call team for the campus. Assist with the administration of the Advocate incident report processing system. Assist with CARE student follow-up and administrative support in Advocate. (20%)Foster, develop, and maintain a sense of community and belonging with assigned complex. Be accessible to residents by being available and visible in the complex. Become aware of, and respond to, residents' needs, interests, and concerns and make appropriate referrals to other College offices. Assist resident assistant staff in implementing community cultivation curriculum and attend individual building and floor meetings whenever possible. Support, attend, and evaluate resident assistant outputs, ensuring that all RAs meet responsibility requirements and ensure they meet the residential community needs. Manage the complex programming budget, provide an accounting of all programming expenses, and supporting documents to Residence Life and Housing. Coordinate and lead departmental administrative projects, including professional development for students and professional staff, housing operations initiatives, and residential programming. (30%)Assume responsibility for the daily operation of one or more residence halls in the campus community. Keep the central staff leadership informed about area activities, emergencies, and other issues of significance. Assist in annual housing selection process and periodic room changes. Serve on the departmental and department-directed committees and task forces. Oversee the periodic building inventories and make appropriate requests for furniture and equipment, maintenance/cleaning work requests, and periodic replacement of appliances and furniture. Perform fire, health, and safety inspections/drills. (25%)

MARGINAL DUTIES:

Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution required. Master's Degree preferred.Minimum of two years of full-time experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated understanding of Catholic and/or Christian higher education institutions' structure, mission, and valuesDemonstrated experience in the areas of supporting underrepresented students and staff, curriculum development and implementation, facilities management, staff training and/or development, crisis intervention, and student conduct.Ability to manage complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects with urgent or immediate demands. Must exhibit good time management skills and ability to prioritize.Capacity to manage stress and maintain personal and emotional stability in a demanding work environment. Must possess good fiscal management skills and sound judgment.
