Overview

Serves as a accessible resource whose core, curriculum-based responsibilities are underscored by reinforcing ethics, responsible conduct, and moral accountability. Work collaboratively with various departments on campus to create opportunities for, and to engage students in, dialogue, personal development, academic achievement, and identity formation. This is a 10 month position.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Participate in the fall, winter, and spring training sessionsfor the RA’s; supervise, hire, train, and evaluate performance ofassigned RA’s and provide feedback and encouragement to RAs forpersonal and paraprofessional growth. Manage and process RAadministrative reports such as weekly reports, duty logs, dutyschedules, and incident reports. Meet regularly with the RA’s bothindividually and in weekly staff meetings. Supervise and evaluateperformance of at least one Graduate Hall Director; providefeedback and encouragement to Graduate Hall Director’s personal andprofessional growth; and meet regularly with Graduate Hall Directorto review current concerns and questions. (25%)
  2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and clear understanding of the regulations outlined in the Student Handbook, as well as relatedlegal regulations. Enforce all applicable regulations as needed,communicate behavioral expectations to students through periodicfloor and building meetings with complex residents, and conductjudicial conferences of referred cases for students documented forpolicy violations. Complete and submit infraction reports to theappropriate central staff member. Develop strategies to reduceinappropriate behavior in the complex. Serve as a member of theon-call rotation team for the campus responding to incidents asthey arise, following College and Residence Life and Housingprotocol, and submitting required documentation. Conduct BriefMotivational Interview alcohol interventions as assigned. Serve asan on-duty member of the Administrator on-call team for the campus.Assist with the administration of the Advocate incident reportprocessing system. Assist with CARE student follow-up andadministrative support in Advocate. (20%)
  3. Foster, develop, and maintain a sense of community andbelonging with assigned complex. Be accessible to residents bybeing available and visible in the complex. Become aware of, andrespond to, residents' needs, interests, and concerns and makeappropriate referrals to other College offices. Assist residentassistant staff in implementing community cultivation curriculumand attend individual building and floor meetings wheneverpossible. Support, attend, and evaluate resident assistant outputs,ensuring that all RAs meet responsibility requirements and ensurethey meet the residential community needs. Manage the complexprogramming budget, provide an accounting of all programmingexpenses, and supporting documents to Residence Life and Housing.Coordinate and lead departmental administrative projects, includingprofessional development for students and professional staff,housing operations initiatives, and residential programming.(30%)
  4. Assume responsibility for the daily operation of one or moreresidence halls in the campus community. Keep the central staffleadership informed about area activities, emergencies, and otherissues of significance. Assist in annual housing selection processand periodic room changes. Serve on the departmental anddepartment-directed committees and task forces. Oversee theperiodic building inventories and make appropriate requests forfurniture and equipment, maintenance/cleaning work requests, andperiodic replacement of appliances and furniture. Perform fire,health, and safety inspections/drills. (25%)
MARGINAL DUTIES:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accreditedinstitution required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of full-time experience in a related fieldor an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Catholic and/or Christian highereducation institutions’ structure, mission, and values
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of supportingunderrepresented students and staff, curriculum development andimplementation, facilities management, staff training and/ordevelopment, crisis intervention, and student conduct.
  • Ability to manage complex situations and multipleresponsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects withurgent or immediate demands.
  • Must exhibit good time management skills and ability toprioritize.
  • Capacity to manage stress and maintain personal and emotionalstability in a demanding work environment.
  • Must possess good fiscal management skills and soundjudgment.
