AIG Claims, Inc. in Chicago seeks a Complex Claims Director for Miscellaneous Professional Liability. You will handle high-exposure claims, including class actions, and lead coverage determinations, investigations, and reserve strategies.

The role requires strong negotiation, policy analysis, and litigation knowledge, with a JD preferred. Base salary ranges from $120,000 to $147,000 plus bonus, and a comprehensive benefits program is offered.

Qualifications

• Strong track record of handling complex insurance claims or litigation.
• Professional liability claims experience within Financial Lines preferred.
• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; a Juris Doctor is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make coverage determinations, investigate losses, evaluate and project exposures.
• Make case presentations, setting judgmental reserves, developing resolution strategies.
• Budget and manage litigation with counsel, vendors, insureds.
• Collaborate with underwriting to deliver differentiated value to customers and partners.
• Establish ground rules with defense and coverage counsel to control costs.

You will be responsible for handling all aspects of the highest exposure, complex third-party, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Privacy and Media Tech claims, including class actions and high exposure matters, from inception through conclusion brought against insureds engaged in a wide range of professions.Making coverage determinations, investigating losses, evaluating and projecting potential exposuresMaking case presentations, setting judgmental reserves, developing and implementing resolution strategiesEffectively strategizing and budgeting litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors and insureds. Establish with defense and coverage counsel clear ground rules in order to maintain financial control of budget and expenses.Collaborating with underwriting and delivering differentiated value and service to our customers and distribution partnersWhat you’ll need to succeedA strong track record of handling complex insurance claims, litigation or other related experience, preferably professional liability claims experience within Financial LinesDemonstrated ability to analyze policies of insurance and legal documentsExcellent negotiation, interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsKnowledge of the litigation and arbitration processBachelor’s degree or equivalent; a Juris Doctor is preferredReady to make a bigger impact? For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $105,000- $147,000. For positions based in Boston, the base salary range is $122,000- $146,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
