Job summary

AIG is seeking a Complex Claims Director for Management Liability to lead high-severity D&O claims, with potential exposure to Employment Practices Liability and Fiduciary Liability. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and keen risk assessment.

You will manage investigations, strategy, and negotiations and present to senior management. JD preferred; multi-state adjuster licenses are a plus. This is an in-office role with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience handling complex insurance claims, litigation or other related experience; management liability claims experience highly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills.
• Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process.
• Experience attending and controlling cases: pre-suit, litigated, post-trial, at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required. JD highly preferred. Multi-state adjuster licenses preferred.

• Prepare and execute investigation strategies identifying issues affecting liability, causation, damages, and risk transfer opportunities.
• Communicate with insureds, brokers and underwriters to guide expectations and provide updates.
• Negotiate multi-million dollar claims with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide and document strategy.
• Budget and manage litigation with defense and coverage counsel; establish ground rules to control costs.
• Travel up to 10%.

You are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You have balanced the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience and judgment, along with the appropriate risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes. This position requires:Determining the scope and extent of available coverage.The investigation, evaluation and disposition of new and existing Directors & Officers Liability claims including possibly Employment Practices Liability and Fiduciary Liability claims.Preparation and execution of investigation strategies which identify critical issues effecting liability, causation and damages and assessment of risk transfer and contribution opportunities.Clear and concise communication and contact with internal and external customers, including insureds, brokers and underwriters, to provide guidance and manage expectations.Proper documentation of exposure evaluation and resolution strategy.Frequently present to senior management of claim disposition recommendations.Obtain the appropriate authority to independently negotiate multi-million dollar claims with the top plaintiff attorneys nationwide. Document evaluation, thought process, and strategy. Utilize ADR as appropriate and necessary.Effectively strategize and budget litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors and insureds. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
