Job summary

Nemours is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Complex Care team in Jacksonville, FL. The MA serves as a liaison between patient/family, provider, and care team, coordinating patient flow and assisting in data collection and review for intake, while entering pertinent history into the medical record.

The MA performs and assists with clinical procedures, including vitals, specimen collection, vaccines, and point-of-care testing, following Nemours protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Healthcare and Customer Service experience.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association within three months of employment and continue to maintain as required.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families at the clinical setting according to Nemours Standards of Behavior.
• Coordinates patient flow by assisting in clinical data collection and review for patient intake.
• Performs and assists with clinical procedures as directed by the provider and per protocol.
• Obtains and documents height, weight, vital signs; documents reason for visit and initiates orders as appropriate.
• Assists with patient examination/treatment and collects routine laboratory specimens.
• Operates required medical equipment and maintains exam rooms and supplies.
• Acts as liaison between support services, other clinical divisions, and patient regarding care and wait times.
