Qualifications

Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Completion Engineering Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of new horizontal well completions and drillouts, utilizing multi-stage water-fracture designs
  • Develop, author, and execute detailed toe prep, frac, and drillout programs to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations
  • Design and optimize stimulation programs including stage spacing, cluster configuration, fluid systems, proppant loading, and pumping schedules
  • Own completion-related capital, including creation, defense, and management of well-level and activity-level AFEs representing the majority of total well costs
  • Track and communicate completion costs accurately on daily and monthly intervals, with continuous focus on capital efficiency and cost optimization
  • Supervise and coordinate all field staff, third-party vendors, consultants, and contractors during completion operations
  • Lead vendor selection, contract management, and negotiations for toe prep, frac, drillout, and related services
  • Perform ongoing field studies, testing, and technical evaluations to continuously improve completion designs and operational performance
  • Analyze daily completion and drillout data to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions
  • Lead safety execution for all completion operations, ensuring compliance with company HSE standards, regulatory requirements, and ESG commitments
  • Collaborate closely with reservoir, drilling, production, facilities, finance, and land teams to align completion strategies with asset development and capital plans
  • Provide 24/7 operational support during active completion operations, including after-hours and weekend coordination as required
Water Planning & Execution
  • Lead water planning, sourcing, and logistics for completion operations across multiple DJ Basin operating areas
  • Design and manage water transfer systems based on pad-level requirements, frac design assumptions, and operational timing
  • Coordinate water balance engineering, storage, treatment, and simops simultaneous operations to ensure reliable freshwater supply and minimize trucking costs
  • Integrate frac design changes with real-time water planning adjustments to maintain operational readiness and cost control
Education and Experience (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in production engineering or related roles in the upstream oil & gas industry (DJ Basin experience a plus)
  • Strong hands‑on experience with horizontal well completions and multi‑stage hydraulic fracturing
  • Proven ability to supervise field operations and manage service providers
  • Solid understanding of completion economics, AFE preparation, and cost tracking
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard engineering and data analysis tools
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across disciplines
Education and Experience (preferred)
  • Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in production engineering or related roles in the upstream oil & gas industry
  • Extensive experience with plug‑and‑perf water-frac operations
  • Track record of improving well performance and/or reducing completion costs
  • Familiarity with DJ Basin regulatory requirements and operational practices
Other Requirements

Compensation

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $126,200-205,500 annually in this location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.

Location

This position is located Denver, Colorado. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location. No relocation or travel assistance will be provided by the Company for this position.

This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside in an office space wherein employee may be provided a public work station (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered.

Physical Demands

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.

Position Type and Working Hours

This is a full-time position. We operate on a 9/80 work schedule. Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on working Fridays. Employee must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.

Travel

Routine, even daily, travel to remote locations will be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, or visits to other company office locations.
