Job summary

Illinois School District U46 is seeking a High School Assistant Coach to support the head coach in organizing the program and guiding student athletes. You will help conduct practices, communicate game strategies, and ensure safety and eligibility in coordination with the athletic department.

This role requires commitment, teamwork, and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. Experience with IHSA expectations and proper certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification in American Sport Education Program or Illinois Teaching certificate.
• IHSA tests must be passed and videos reviewed.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and oversees specific program levels or areas of responsibility.
• Work within the head coach's organizational structure.
• Verify all participants are fully registered and eligible.
• Develop game schedules, practice schedules, facilities use, transportation needs, and program budget.
• Communicate and plan practice sessions and competition strategies with the head coach.

Education

American Sport Education Program certification or Illinois Teaching certificate

IHSA required tests

First Aid/CPR/AED certification
