Job summary

Monarch Mountain is seeking a Competition Coach to join the Monarch family, coaching guests in skiing and snowboarding competition and helping develop their skills throughout the season.

You will work with the team across departments, mentor peers, and participate in on-hill course setup and officiating. A dynamic, outdoor setting with a season pass perk awaits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• Experience coaching guests in skiing or snowboarding.
• Familiarity with IFSA/PSIA/USSA teaching methodologies.
• Ability to develop clientele through proactive service and sales.

Responsibilities

• Coach guests in skiing/snowboarding competition using established teaching methodologies.
• Develop skiing/boarding and coaching skills throughout the season.

They are responsible for coaching guests in skiing and/or snowboarding competition, continues to develop his or her own skills as a coach, and maintains clientele through proactive service and sales efforts.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:The Competition Coach responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.Coach guests in the tactics of skiing or snowboarding competition, providing them with a positive and quality experience that is within the realm of the IFSA, PSIA/AASI, USSA teaching methodologies.Develop skiing/boarding and coaching skills throughout the season.Accept and relinquish custody of minors per prescribed procedures.Develop and maintain clientele through proactive service and sales efforts.Attend and coach at competitions.On hill preparations, course setting, signage, timing and officiating.Mentor/coach peers as assigned.Perform snow removal as necessary.Other duties as assigned. Can work any hours during the business day including mornings, evenings or split shifts, and any day of the week (including weekends and holidays)JOB REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Age: 21Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.Background check required.A valid Driver’s License, and a good, company insurable driving record is required.Member of IFSA and L100 Certification preferredSki/Ride at an advanced level.Ability to push, lift, and move up to 30 lbs.Requires skiing or riding for long periods of time, on challenging or difficult terrain, and avoiding and recovering from a fall. Must be able to stop, turn, change directions suddenly, adapt to uneven, varying intermediate terrain, and move in both directions on skis or snowboard carrying up to 15 lbs.Must have the strength, flexibility, endurance and aerobic conditioning to meet the demands posed by lifting, bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing stairs, shoveling snow, lowering and carrying equipment.Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.JOB TYPE: Winter Seasonal, Full and Part TimeCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Compensation: Begins at $20.00 per hour, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience/length of serviceBenefits: Monarch Season Pass and many more!
