Job summary

The Compensation Analyst at American University will work with the Compensation team to provide analysis and guidance on pay actions, market studies, and salary structures. You will collaborate with HR and management to support position classifications, reclassifications, and equity analyses, ensuring alignment with budget and strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in compensation analysis, design, and administration.
• Hands-on experience with market pricing, salary surveys, and benchmarking compensation data.
• Experience in data analysis, reporting, and presenting compensation-related insights.
• Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday).
• Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data modeling for compensation analysis.
• Familiarity with compensation-related regulations, such as FLSA, pay equity laws, and wage and hour compliance.
• Proven ability to partner with HR teams, leadership, and external vendors to support compensation programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and analytical support for compensation actions including pay and market analyses.
• Lead market pricing and benchmarking studies and manage salary survey submissions.
• Prepare reports on compensation trends and data audits using HRIS systems.
• Support annual compensation programs including merit and equity adjustments.
• Collaborate with HR and management to develop new compensation programs and policies.
• Assist with job descriptions, classifications, and workforce planning.
