Job summary

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to fill a Compensation Specialist role for a mission-driven nonprofit in Illinois. This hybrid, contract-to-hire position is based in Des Plaines, with three onsite days (Tue–Thu) and two remote days (Mon and Fri).

You will shape compensation design, data analysis, and policy implementation across the organization. The ideal candidate brings hands-on compensation program experience, exceptional analytical skills, and familiarity with HRIS (Dayforce

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience administering or managing compensation programs.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret salary data, salary surveys, and market trends.
• Experience with HRIS platforms; Dayforce preferred; proficiency in MS Office.
• Working knowledge of federal and state compensation laws and compliant practices.
• Detail-oriented with strong collaboration skills; CCP/SHRM/HRCI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain compensation databases, files, and processes with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Partner with senior management and HRBPs to advise on base pay, variable pay, promotions, and job changes.
• Support job architecture, descriptions, job evaluations, and salary reviews.
• Conduct market research, salary benchmarking, audits, and data analysis for equity and competitiveness.
• Develop, interpret, and communicate compensation policies and training for managers and HR teams.
• Review requests, resolve discrepancies, and respond to inquiries using market data.
