Job summary

Scion Staffing seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager for a national nonprofit professional association in the Chicagoland area. This full-time, direct-hire role offers hybrid work Tue–Thu onsite and requires strong HR leadership across employee relations, recruitment, compensation, and policy development.

You will work with senior leadership to build HR programs, ensure compliance, and create a positive employee experience, while balancing autonomy with organizational priorities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on HR experience across employee relations, performance management, compliance and benefits.
• Ability to independently assess HR practices and implement practical processes.
• Strong communication, judgment and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in a nonprofit/association/healthcare setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary day-to-day HR resource advising staff and leadership on policies and employee relations.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance reviews and development processes.
• Administer benefits, payroll-related activities and HR documentation.
• Develop and update HR policies, handbooks and HR infrastructure.
• Support investigations, coaching, disciplinary conversations and manager guidance.
