Job summary

American Addiction Centers seeks a Counselor II to provide individual, group and family counseling for adults in a Virtual IOP setting with a Monday–Friday 1:00 PM–9:30 PM PST schedule. You will conduct clinical assessments, participate in treatment teams and ensure compliant documentation.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Behavioral Sciences, pursue licensure (AMFT/ACSW/APCC), have 2+ years in behavioral health, and familiarity with CBT, motivational interviewing and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences or equivalent required.
• AMFT, ACSW or APCC and actively working towards licensure/certification in alcoholism and drug abuse.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a behavioral healthcare field.
• Experience with substance abuse, addictions, mental health, CBT and motivational interviewing.
• Knowledge of using electronic health record software and documentation.
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria.
• Counseling experience with adults, understanding of psychotropic medications and effects.
• Ability to read, write and interpret information, type documentation, present to groups and participate in meetings.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft & Google products.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling.
• Conduct clinical assessments for new patients and ongoing required assessments.
• Participate in treatment team and provide service coordination as needed.
• Advocate and communicate with UR department on patient care aspects.
• Ensure documentation meets contract, licensure, accreditation, and standards.
• Communicate with other departments to ensure best patient care.
• Provide clinical services to outpatient and inpatient adult populations.
• Adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines.
• Assist in monitoring and managing patient community as a therapeutic milieu.
