Job summary

National Capital Treatment & Recovery in Arlington, VA seeks a part-time Counselor for our Coed IOP Program serving adults with substance use disorders. The role provides individual and group counseling under the Clinical Supervisor, with a 15‑hour weekly schedule (Mon/Wed/Thu 11am‑3pm) and requires a 60‑credit Master’s degree with eligibility to become a Resident in Counselor or Supervisee in Social Work.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field required.
• Licensure as a professional counselor, clinical social worker, or substance abuse treatment practitioner preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in human services/substance abuse treatment setting.
• Knowledge of ASAM Criteria.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for clients in residential treatment.
• Coordinate all elements of client’s treatment as primary counselor.
• Complete psychosocial assessments and entrance reviews.
• Maintain client records and progress notes according to licensure and policy.
• Develop individualized service plans and review treatment issues weekly.
• Present educational lectures and facilitate treatment groups as scheduled.
• Act as advocate for clients within the residential setting.
