Job summary

Midway Veterinary Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians by cleaning and maintaining equipment, preparing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and performing clerical tasks to deliver quality care.

This role involves greeting clients, taking patient weights and vital signs, assisting with medications, lab work, imaging, and maintaining medical records.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to train the right candidate.
• Preferably with veterinary experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, take weight and vital signs upon arrival.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and assist with medications.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients and assist with restraint.
• Assist doctors and technicians with administration of medications or with patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Maintain medical records and ensure proper documentation.
