Job summary

Leatherstocking Veterinary Group is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinarians and technicians. You will help with patient care, restraint, and daily tasks, including cleaning, feeding, exercising, and preparing surgery areas.

The ideal candidate has at least one year in a veterinary setting, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible scheduling and weekend availability are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One or more years’ experience in the veterinary environment.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform cleaning and constant motion.
• Ability to work with or around sick animals.
• Flexible with scheduling and some weekend/holiday work.

Responsibilities

• Genuinely care for animals
• Take pets out for walks and monitor after surgery
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, and assist in treatments
• Maintain daily cleanliness of the hospital and kennels
• Clean equipment, kennels, and facilities using chemicals
• Keep cages labeled with Patient and Owner information (phone)
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and supply areas
• Tidy pharmacy, refill vials, dust shelves, and identify outdated meds for LVT
