Job summary

Hope Springs Veterinary is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians during appointments and surgeries. You will perform clinical tasks like venipuncture, restraint, radiography, medication administration, and anesthesia monitoring while educating clients on pet care.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of veterinary hospital experience, handle a fast-paced environment, and maintain composure while working with diverse breeds and sizes of dogs and cats.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Be able to handle a high paced environment and be a successful multitasker.
• Possess a high level of interest in customer service and the ability to communicate with clients and fellow team members not just pets.
• The ability to meet the physical demands of working a shift standing, squatting, walking, lifting and carrying 40 lbs unassisted.
• The ability to work around substances such as animal saliva, blood, urine, fecal material, vomit, etc.
• Comfortable and able to work with all breeds, temperaments, and sizes of dogs and cats.
• At least one year experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in appointments and surgery.
• Perform technical duties such as venipuncture, proper restraint, radiographic positioning, fill medications, and anesthetic monitoring.
• Provide client education in pet care, so you must be well versed in regards to various medical procedures and preventive care for pets.
• Create and communicate medical treatment plans.
