Job summary

Petco’s Veterinary Assistant role at our Vetco Total Care hospital provides compassionate patient care and outstanding client service. Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary practice or related animal care preferred (1 year).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must be compassionate and maintaining professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills required.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt to changes.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments and escort them into exam rooms, record vitals and update EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint, collect samples, handle medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results, and maintain records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist with anesthesia and recovery.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and monitor patients under supervision.
• Assist in training new staff and maintain a clean hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
