Job summary

Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care. This full-time General Practice position is in Snohomish, WA, with a schedule including Mon/Thu/Fri/Sat and opportunities to grow within a multi-species team.

The ideal candidate has animal-handling skills, strong client-service abilities, and a positive, learning-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of veterinary assistant or veterinary technician experience with direct animal patient care.
• Knowledge of animal restraint, patient handling, and basic veterinary procedures.
• Strong communication and client service skills.
• Ability to lift and restrain animals safely.
• Ability to obtain and maintain WA Veterinary Medication Clerk registration after 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient exams, treatments, diagnostics, and nursing care.
• Safely restrain and handle patients, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Collect histories, obtain samples, perform in-house lab tests, and maintain medical records.
• Prepare, label, and dispense medications as directed within WA state rules.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain surgical suites and treatment areas.
• Educate clients on preventive care, treatments, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms, labs, and treatment areas.
• Support daily hospital operations and patient flow.
• Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality care and excellent client experience.
