Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Vetco Total Care hospital team in Acadian, LA. You will support doctors during exams, surgeries, dentistry, and euthanasia, while maintaining EMR accuracy and delivering excellent client communication.

The role emphasizes patient safety, compassionate care, and teamwork in a fast-paced clinic environment. You will assist in anesthesia, monitor vital signs, and help with recovery, while also supporting front desk duties and client education.

Qualifications

• Preferred 1+ year of veterinary practice or related animal care experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor under stress.
• Proficient telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques.

Responsabilités

• Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments, obtain weight and vital signs, and record in the EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint and process laboratory samples; handle and dispense medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results, and maintain client/patient records.
• Help prepare patients for surgical/dental procedures and assist during anesthesia and recovery.
• Keep hospital environment clean and organized; assist with front desk tasks as needed.
