Job summary

Village Animal Hospital in the Lexington area is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment. The role includes monitoring hospitalized pets, preparing prescriptions, and performing routine in-house lab work.

Responsibilities also cover assisting with surgeries, taking histories and vital signs, and educating clients. A weekend availability and basic computer skills are required, with benefits including PTO and health plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and surgery.

• Collect samples and perform in-house lab work; prepare specimens for external labs.
• Take radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals, administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and equipment; support staff as needed.
• Communicate professionally with clients and veterinarians.
