Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island in West Islip, NY seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including restraining animals, feeding, grooming, and preparing surgery areas.

You will handle clinical and clerical duties, maintain clean facilities, and interact with clients to record patient histories and assist with transport as needed.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
• Veterinary experience required
• Ability to interact with the public

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals for the veterinarian and technicians
• Feed animals as appropriate with Dr's instructions
• Clean and ensure all areas are free of odors
• Administer medications as allowed by law
• Groom animals as needed
• Record keeping concerning routine care, vitals, and observations of the patients
• Assist with animal exercise and bathroom routines
• General well-being of every animal under your care
• Laundry and facility upkeep
• Restocking, cleaning, phone duties and data entry
• Greet clients and help with patient histories and belongings to vehicles
