Job summary

PetVet Care Centers Setauket Animal Hospital in Setauket, NY is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks. You will help with cleaning, feeding, restraining and caring for patients, and perform clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a veterinary environment performing the duties of this position.
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, possibly hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and zoonotic diseases.
• This is a strenuous job that requires lifting, cleaning, and constant motion.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, escort to examining room, and record weight and vital signs.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medications as directed by licensed technicians.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications and patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and documentation.
