Job summary

The Muscogee County School District is seeking a Paraprofessional for Special Education in Columbus, Georgia. The role supports students with special needs, assists teachers, and helps with daily classroom operations.

Main duties include instructional support, data collection, clerical tasks, and supervision during activities and transport, with a focus on health-related student needs and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 semester/100 quarter hours or passing GACE paraprofessional assessment.
• Must maintain Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate with in-service training.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Attend promptly and regularly and support the teacher with instruction per lesson plans.
• Assist with record keeping, data collection, and clerical tasks.
• Participate in school functions, field trips, and extracurricular activities as directed.
• Engage in ongoing in-service training and collaboration with staff.
• Support hall duty and bus loading/unloading as assigned.
• Perform clerical duties to aid teachers/administrators in maintaining records.
• Assist medically fragile students with routine care as needed.
• Help move students between areas and position them for instruction.
• Assist with instruction, positioning, and related therapy as directed.
• Maintain sanitary environments and handle body fluids per universal precautions.
• Assist with community-based instruction per State guidelines.
• Monitor classroom during teacher’s absence (IEP meetings/work planning).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
