Job summary

Better Living is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper for our assisted living community. You will maintain cleanliness and order in resident apartments and common areas, while upholding infection control standards and ensuring residents' comfort and dignity.

The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork to support staff and residents. Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and read, write, and comprehend English. This is an on‑site position in our Charles City community.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or environmental services preferred.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and infection control standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident apartments, bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and living areas.
• Perform daily and scheduled cleaning of common areas—hallways, lounges, dining rooms, and restrooms.
• Dust, vacuum, mop, sweep, and polish floors and furniture.
• Change linens, make beds, and launder resident or facility items as assigned.
• Safely handle and store cleaning supplies following infection control protocols.
• Report maintenance needs or safety hazards to staff promptly.
• Respect resident privacy and belongings while working in living spaces.
• Assist in preparing rooms for new residents to ensure a welcoming move‑in experience.
• Collaborate with care staff to support resident well‑being and satisfaction.
• Adhere to community policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
