Job summary

Bay Cove Human Services is hiring Residential Support staff to provide direct care for adults with developmental disabilities at several Greater Boston sites. You’ll help develop independent living skills and promote quality of life.

Positions require English literacy, CPR/First Aid, MAP and Safety Care certifications, and a valid driver’s license. Community-based roles involve transportation, documentation, and adherence to program protocols.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing in English is required.
• Six months of full-time paid or volunteer experience or one-year part-time in human services, or enrolled in an undergraduate or higher degree program in a human services field.
• CPR & First Aid (SFA) certification is required; must be certified within 60 days of hire.
• MAP certification required within 6 months of hire; recertification every two years.
• Safety Care certification required within 90 days; ability to walk stairs and provide emergency intervention.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and one year driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow program models and clinical, programmatic and quality protocols.
• Exercise clinical judgment in observing, supporting and communicating.
• Teach and reinforce activities of daily living (medication management, hygiene, budgeting, safety).
• Develop and implement program activities to reinforce skills.
• Maintain safety procedures including crisis assessment and intervention.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments or activities via public transport or agency vehicle.
• Maintain programmatic documentation and assist with upkeep of residence.
• Provide training to individuals and coworkers on assigned roles (e.g., Medication Officer, Safety Officer).
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
