Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in State College, PA seeks a Resident Assistant/PCA to provide quality care and assist residents with daily living activities. You will report incidents, assist with mobility, meals, activities, and maintain confidentiality while working with the nursing team.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, complete a PCA program, and be able to lift, stand, and communicate effectively.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completed personal care aide program per state regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Organizational skills and ability to work with all levels of staff.
• Collaborate with nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
• Polite, respectful demeanor toward residents, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
• Lift 50 lbs; push or carry 25 lbs.
• Safe lifting and transfer of residents.
• Wear designated uniform with name badge.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days.
• Positive, professional representation of the community.
• Attend all in-services and staff meetings.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals.
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living.
• Perform housekeeping duties in resident areas as directed by supervisor.
• Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
• Remain calm and competent during emergencies.
• Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
• Assist residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities.
• Check on residents, ensure attendance at meals and activities.
• Check on residents who are ill and report status or concerns.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, appointments, admissions, transfers.
• Assist new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support.
• Other duties as assigned.
