Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician in Rockford, IL. This PRN, variable-shift role focuses on compassionate patient care, accurate specimen collection, labeling, and efficient processing within the laboratory operations. You will work with HIS and LIS systems to register patients and handle related duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course or previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Certification or related training is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Proficient with HIS and LIS to release orders or register patients.
• Register patients, collect payments, and enter demographics for efficient processing.
• Transfer test requests into HIS and LIS from scripts, requisitions, and verbal orders.
• Answer and screen telephone calls professionally.
• Ensure specimen labeling with patient details and collector code.
• Perform phlebotomy ensuring specimen integrity and safety.
