Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to support our clinic team at MUSC Health Great Falls Primary Care. The role focuses on accurate specimen collection, labeling, and handling while ensuring a positive patient experience in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, phlebotomy training or experience, and BLS certification. Training in OSHA and proper specimen handling will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–6 months phlebotomy internship or work experience preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens per procedures.
  • Label, document, handle, and transport specimens accurately.
  • Maintain chain of custody for specified specimens.
  • Collect urine drug screens and other urine specimens as needed.
  • Deliver specimens to storage/processing locations promptly.
  • Communicate with providers and back-office staff on patient care and specimen status.
  • Provide courteous, compassionate service to patients during collection.
  • Follow safety, infection prevention, and specimen-handling procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
  • Assist with additional clinical and administrative duties as needed.
