Job summary

MUSC Health Great Falls Primary Care is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our clinic team. You will collect blood and urine specimens accurately and safely while delivering a compassionate patient experience.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role reports to the Practice Manager and collaborates with providers and staff to support efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0–6 months of experience; relevant phlebotomy training or clinical experience is preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens according to established procedures.
• Ensure all patient specimens are properly labeled, documented, handled, and transported.
• Maintain proper chain of custody for specimens when required.
• Collect and process chain-of-custody urine drug screens and other urine specimens as needed.
• Deliver specimens to the appropriate location for storage and processing in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with providers and back-office staff regarding patient care and specimen collection.
• Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate service to patients throughout the collection process.
• Follow established safety, infection prevention, and specimen-handling procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical and appropriate behavior at all times.
• Assist with other clinical and administrative duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
