MUSC Health Great Falls Primary Care is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our clinic team. You will collect blood and urine specimens accurately, safely, and efficiently while ensuring a positive patient experience.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and comfortable in a fast-paced clinical setting. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will support efficient operations and quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0–6 months of experience; phlebotomy training preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens according to procedures.
  • Label, document, handle, and transport specimens per requirements.
  • Maintain chain of custody for specimens when required.
  • Collect and process urine drug screens as needed.
  • Deliver specimens to storage and processing locations promptly.
  • Communicate with providers and back-office staff about patient care.

Job Description

MUSC Health Great Falls Primary Care is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our medical clinic team. This position plays an important role in supporting quality patient care by collecting blood and urine specimens accurately, safely, and efficiently while providing a positive experience for every patient.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What You'll Do
  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens according to established procedures.
  • Ensure all patient specimens are properly labeled, documented, handled, and transported in accordance with laboratory and organizational requirements.
  • Maintain proper chain of custody for specimens when required.
  • Collect and process chain-of-custody urine drug screens and other urine specimens as needed.
  • Deliver specimens to the appropriate location for storage and processing in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with providers and back-office staff regarding patient care and specimen collection.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate service to patients throughout the collection process.
  • Follow established safety, infection prevention, and specimen-handling procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical and appropriate behavior at all times.
  • Assist with other clinical and administrative duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position reports to the Practice Manager for day-to-day operations and communicates primarily through verbal communication and email. The Phlebotomy Technician works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and back-office team members to support efficient clinic operations and quality patient care.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • 0–6 months of experience; relevant phlebotomy training or clinical experience is preferred.
Credentials
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
