Job summary

Wellpath seeks a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and capillary puncture for blood specimens across facility patients, ensuring accurate sample collection and testing readiness. You will support waived to moderate complexity analyses and maintain QC standards in a correctional environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Phlebotomy course.
• Prior experience in a correctional setting preferred.
• Requires unrestricted current certification or registration as required by state.

Responsibilities

• The Phlebotomist performs venipuncture and capillary puncture for blood specimen collection and conducts waived/moderate complexity testing while maintaining instrument QC and preventative maintenance.
• They remain up-to-date on policy changes, attend continuing education programs, distribute specimen collection supplies, and communicate patient concerns to supervisors.
• The Phlebotomist ensures timely completion of labs, maintains lab records and documents all invasive procedures and patient refusals in medical records.
• They comply with standard safety policies and maintain confidentiality of patient information while exhibiting excellent customer service and attention to detail.
• The Phlebotomist demonstrates competence to provide developmentally appropriate care and works as scheduled, including holidays as required.
