Qualifications

• 0-2 years of phlebotomy experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) following policy to ensure accurate specimen collection.
• Ensures positive patient identification using two identifiers and bedside labeling to prevent errors.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens to the laboratory while maintaining sample integrity and safety.
• Explains procedures to patients to provide reassurance and address concerns for a positive patient experience.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace per safety and infection control standards.
• Documents patient and specimen information accurately in the laboratory system to meet regulatory requirements.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered, prioritizes tasks, and completes phlebotomy duties efficiently.
• Identifies and resolves specimen issues, including rejections and recollections when necessary.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to clarify orders, resolve collection challenges, and communicate specimen status.
• Adheres to all laboratory and hospital safety requirements and Laboratory procedures for accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
