Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection in accordance with policies to ensure accurate specimens.
• Ensures positive patient identification using two identifiers and bedside labeling.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens to the lab maintaining specimen integrity.
• Explains procedures to patients and provides reassurance to ensure a positive experience.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace.
• Documents patient and specimen information in the laboratory system in compliance with regulations.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered and prioritizes tasks to meet clinical needs.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to resolve collection challenges and communicate specimen status.
• Adheres to safety requirements and laboratory procedures to ensure compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with all policies.
