Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Lima, OH is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its Laboratory Department. The Phlebotomist draws quality blood samples from patients, prepares specimens for lab testing, and completes clerical duties to keep the department efficient.

Responsibilities include order entry, result look-up, report generation, and answering internal/external calls in a friendly and helpful manner. Travel to off-site locations may be required to serve patients across the network.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not required.
• One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
• Collects all specimens according to established procedures and ensures proper processing.
• Identifies patients accurately and matches identity with the correct service for safety.
• Performs data entry and processing of specimens by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as ordered.
• Performs clerical duties such as inventory checks, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
