Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, is seeking a Phlebotomist to safely collect venipuncture samples from adults, children and infants, interpret physician orders, and ensure timely, accurate processing in the hospital information system.

You will greet patients using AIDET, coordinate with labs and departments, maintain clean work areas, cover other sites as needed, and engage in ongoing education and ICARE-based patient care.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• On track to obtain High School Diploma within 12 months of hire.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients using the AIDET (PHLEBOT) model and provides instructions for quality patient experiences.
• Evaluates physician orders for specimen type, draw time and handling requirements.
• Uses hospital and laboratory computer systems to obtain information and clarify requests.
• Safely collects quality samples according to policies with various collection devices.
• Cleans, organizes, rotates and stocks phlebotomy areas to maintain safety.
• May collect specimens at other facilities and cover other sites as needed.
• Attends in-services and continuing education to enhance professional growth.
• Implements ICARE principles to promote quality patient care.
