The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center in Eugene, OR is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. You will collect blood and other specimens, primarily venipuncture, while ensuring a compassionate patient experience.

The role supports the US Oncology Compliance Program and emphasizes accurate documentation and safety. The general pay scale is $19.00–$29.00 per hour, with actual hiring rate based on experience, education, responsibilities, location, and performance.

Qualifications

• Entry level position; no prior experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Licensure from an accredited school of phlebotomy recommended; current state licensure if applicable

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens from patients as ordered.
• Maintains documentation per quality assurance program, including logs and records.
• Monitors supplies and ensures viability of materials for patient collection.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories for testing not done in-house.
• Processes orders and reports for lab testing; maintains daily paperwork and logs.
• Operates designated lab equipment and maintains work areas.
• Performs waived lab testing under CLIA guidelines; records control numbers for tests.
• Complies with OSHA and universal precautions; disposes of hazardous materials appropriately.
• Keeps the phlebotomy and lab area clean and restocked; maintains patient confidentiality.
