Job summary

Aspire Transitional Care is seeking a Part-time Phlebotomist to join their clinical team. The schedule offers 20 hours per week with 4-hour shift options (6a-10a, 7a-11a, 8a-12p).

Responsibilities include safe blood collection, patient identification, proper labeling, specimen handling, and coordination with nursing and laboratory partners. Prior phlebotomy experience preferred; BLS may be required by facility policy.

Qualifications

• Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of phlebotomy training program or equivalent.
• Current phlebotomy certification preferred and may be required.
• Prior phlebotomy experience in healthcare settings preferred.
• BLS certification preferred or as required by policy.
• Maintain required training, competency validation, and background checks.
• Prompt and regular attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Verify orders and confirm resident identity before collection.
• Explain procedure to patient and reduce anxiety while maintaining dignity.
• Perform venipuncture/capillary collection within policy and scope of practice.
• Select collection supplies based on tests ordered and patient needs.
• Use aseptic technique and infection control standards in all procedures.
• Label specimens with date/time and collector ID.
• Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling and transport.
• Document collection activity and any refusals or adverse reactions.
