Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a phlebotomy professional to collect specimens, ensure patient safety, and accurately accession samples into the hospital laboratory system. The role requires proper patient identification, labeling, and data entry across multiple systems.

The candidate may perform Point of Care testing and assist with specimen transport and courier coordination at Blount Memorial Hospital and affiliated labs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Three month phlebotomy certificate program required.
• Phlebotomy certifications (e.g., PBT/ASCP, RPT/AMT, CPT/ASPT or similar) or equivalent training considered.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens from patients and ensure safety and comfort.
• Accession samples into the hospital laboratory computer system for testing and billing.
• Verify patient and specimen identification and label specimens accurately.
• Input and review data in lab systems, review workload and communicate with staff and physicians.
• Perform Point of Care testing and specimen processing when assigned, following protocols.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and monitor supplies and expiration dates.
• Distribute specimens for transport, coordinate courier pickups, and notify teams as needed.
• Communicate with patients and staff, provide clear instructions for collection when required.
