Job summary

UCLA Health in Santa Monica, CA is seeking a Patient Transporter for a part-time per diem role. You will position, transfer and transport patients by wheelchair, bed, or gurney, and may perform teaching, dispatching and limited clerical tasks for the transport function.

Responsibilities include equipment cleaning and disinfection, delivering and picking up specimens, blood, equipment, records, medications, and transporting deceased patients to the morgue.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Interpersonal skills to interact diplomatically and sensitively with acutely ill patients.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills to perform data entry and to obtain information from Hospital Systems utilizing a personal computer.
• Ability to push, pull, lift a minimum of 150 pounds.
• Knowledge of proper lifting techniques sustaining a safe work environment for self and co-workers.
• Skilled in English language in both written and verbal format.
• Good comprehension of written and verbal instruction.
• Ability to strictly obey healthcare regulations for Infection Control and follow UCLA Policies and Procedures.
• Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• May perform teaching, training functions, dispatching, and limited clerical duties for the transport function.
• Equipment maintenance and cleaning or disinfection.
• Deliver and pick-up specimens, blood, medical equipment, medical records, medications, and various other items.
• Transport deceased patients to the morgue.
