Job summary

University of California - Los Angeles Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to position, transfer and transport patients by bed, wheelchair or gurney. This is a part-time per diem role with variable schedule and potential for career conversion.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance and disinfection, delivering and picking up specimens, medications, records, and other items, and transporting deceased patients to the morgue. Requires BLS certification and ability to lift 150 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must have a current and valid BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
• Ability to perform physical requirements for patient transport by bed, gurney or wheelchair.
• Able to lift, push, or pull at least 150 pounds.
• Reading and writing in Standard English for slips and clerical tasks.
• Speak clearly with appropriate vocabulary and grammar for transport duties.
• Understand medical terminology and operate related equipment as needed.
• Transport patients safely and professionally; cooperate with hospital staff.
• Accept new responsibilities and work harmoniously with hospital teams.

Responsibilities

• Position, transfer, and transport patients using wheelchair, bed, or gurney.
• Assist with teaching, dispatching, and limited clerical duties for transport.
• Maintain and clean equipment; disinfection where required.
• Deliver and pick up specimens, blood, medical equipment, records, meds, and more.
• Transport deceased patients to the morgue as needed.
