Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to position, transfer, and transport patients between departments by wheelchair, bed, or gurney. This is a part-time per diem role with on-site requirements at the hospital.

The position may involve teaching and training duties, dispatch responsibilities, and limited clerical tasks for the transport function, along with equipment maintenance and safe patient handling. Pay rate is $29.44 hourly.

Qualifications

• Must have a current and valid BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Ability to perform all physical requirements pertaining to the transport of patients in beds, gurneys, and wheelchairs; including heavy equipment.
• Able to lift, push, pull a minimum of 150 pounds.
• Proficient reading and writing in Standard English text for slips and clerical duties.
• Familiar with medical terminology and able to convey information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Position, transfer, and transport patients to and from departments by wheelchair, bed, or gurney.
• Perform teaching, dispatching, and limited clerical duties for the transport function.
• Maintain and clean equipment; disinfection as needed; handle specimens, blood, records, medications and other items.
• Transport deceased patients to the morgue.
