Job summary

Mercy Health in Lima, OH is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Technician (PCT) for St. Rita's Medical Center (Med Surg Oncology 5K). The role covers basic patient care, vital signs, and patient comfort under RN supervision.

Attendance includes 7am-7pm shifts with every 3rd weekend, in a supportive oncology-focused unit. The position requires completion of a nursing aide program or equivalent certification (STNA/CNA) and BLS is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Nursing aide training program completion OR STNA/CNA certification OR nursing program with clinical rotation OR 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, hygiene, mobility assistance, and vital sign measurement.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Assist with hand-offs and reporting of pertinent information on arrival and departure.
• Use approved transfer techniques to mobilize patients and promote independence.
• Encourage patient independence and personalize care based on patient preferences.
