Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network seeks a dedicated Patient Transporter to move patients between clinical units and diagnostic areas, ensuring safety and high levels of service. The role involves coordinating with nursing and medical staff and maintaining equipment inventories and documentation.

The position requires strong customer service, compassion, and the ability to multi-task with initiative. Day shift, full-time, onsite at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg, with weekend/holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
• Compassionate, positive and upbeat disposition in interactions with customers/patients.
• Ability to multi-task and take initiative.
• BLS - Basic Life Support within 180 Days.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients in a safe and timely manner as directed by medical professional staff and established policies and procedures.
• Completes all training requirements and attends in-service education and scheduled departmental staff meetings for transportation planning and initiatives.
• Supports patient throughput and hospital capacity initiatives by using transport software, to facilitate timely patient transports.
• Coordinates activities in the discharged patient holding area.
• Handles portable oxygen cylinders safely.
• Obtains transport equipment for transport.
• Receives and documents patient transportation assignments.
• Performs equipment functions such as receiving, counting, stocking, transporting, cleaning and sanitizing medical equipment.
• Takes excess oxygen tanks to appropriate storage areas and ensures oxygen tanks are in appropriate holders.
