Mercy Medical Center is seeking a full-time Transporter to move patients, patient belongings, equipment and records throughout the medical center to support timely testing, transfers, and discharge.

The role requires basic computer skills, completion of transporter training, and Basic Life Support within six weeks of hire, with an emphasis on safety, patient comfort, and effective communication for visitors and staff.

Qualificações

• Medical terminology preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
• Successful completion of transporter training and competencies.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Must be 16 years of age.

Responsabilidades

• Assumes responsibility for safe patient transport from pickup to delivery or discharge.
• Transports patient belongings, equipment, supplies and medical records between departments.
• Transfers patients to/from cart/bed/wheelchair using correct and safe equipment and assists with patient lifts/moves as requested by Mercy staff.
• Documents work activities according to policy and procedure.
• Responds appropriately to patient requests and according to policy and procedure if these exist.
• Observes and reports pertinent patient and family information to clinical/testing site personnel to promote patient safety and according to policy including IV pump alarms.
• Provides appropriate information and directions to visitors, patients and staff as needed.
• Cleans and stores equipment properly.
• Maintains the physical environment in a clean, well stocked and orderly manner.
• Complies with OHSA/The Joint Commission, infection control, and other pertinent regulatory requirements and guidelines.
• Reports physical environment and safety issues to appropriate department or Safety Officer.
• Utilizes software, pagers, phone systems and other resources appropriately and according to policy and procedure to respond to requests for service in a timely manner.
• Displays competency in location of department/floor/units through out the facility.
• Demonstrates efficient use of supplies, time, and equipment.
